Shady Lanes

I spent the morning at a garden in Northridge pruning plants. It was the last pruning class in a series of four that I was taking from UCLA Extension. The class has been amazing, and I learned so much, but I am looking forward to re-joining the Saturday morning swims at the pool in El Segundo with SCAQ. That will be in two weeks because the class ended just in time for two weekends in a row of being out of town. August 31 can’t come soon enough!

The weather was warm, and we were in full sun at the garden. I had long sleeves, pants and a sunhat, but sun exposure and Hot Girl Summer vibes were strong and intense. I decided to drive to the John Argue Swim Stadium at Expo Park because I know a few lanes on the west side of the pool are shaded soon after opening.

I arrived to a busy pool, and someone was in the two lanes that were shaded, so I jumped in to the empty lane next to them and started my first sent. Luckily for me, I only spent 20 minutes in the sunny lane, and was able to switch to a fully shaded lane when they left. It was such a relief and felt so lovely swimming outside in the shade.
