Monday SCAQ Swim

This Monday’s SCAQ swim was coached by SCAQ Coach Clay. I really enjoy the regular Monday evening coach, but it’s always nice for a little switch-up. He made a proclamation at the beginning of the workout was that this swim would be boring. Boring because that is what distance swimming is all about.
While that may be true for some, I really appreciate the consistency and repetition of a distance workout. That appreciation is what enabled me run marathons for 6 years! We soon discovered that our next hour would be a series of 200 frees…for the entire hour. As a lane, we decided to swim each 200 on a 4:00 minute interval and that enabled us to have about 25 seconds of rest in between each one. I managed to lead the lane the entire time like this, which felt really fantastic. I hit all the intervals and got a high five for pacing. #consistency
