Saturday Afternoon Swim

It was so fantastic to swim during the daytime and in such nice weather; it was quite a contrast to the last few weeks of cool, cloudy, and rainy swims, and also the evening swims in the dark. Unfortunately, I am not feeling very well, and despite a relatively clear nose before the swim, I became increasingly congested, in this awful dry sort of way (nothing would come out) to the point where I had to breathe out through my mouth. It was quite a strange sensation to do that.

My swim was pretty basic because I wasn’t in the mood to think too much, and just wanted something nice and steady. I haven’t done a lot of pull lately, so I was happy to work it in. I had the added bonus of getting an entire lane to myself, which is not something that usually happens at the Santa Monica Swim Center. I have a feeling it was because the pool has been closed for about a month for their annual maintenance and perhaps people didn’t know that it had re-opened.
