Wednesday Evening SCAQ Swim

This evening’s workout kicked my ass. My neck, shoulders, and upper back are so sore. The entire workout was a mix of butterfly and freestyle, and I have to confess that I only swam about 60% of the butterfly portion as butterfly. I would make it about 2/3 across the pool before I needed to switch to free. So sad, so sad.
Doing so much butterfly motivates me to figure out my “fin situation”. I think they will really help me nail down the arm movements and help me feel like I can build the motions of the stroke without feeling like I’m going to pass out.
I am happy to say that when I finally did some back stroke, my body felt like I could unwind the tension created from the forceful forward motion of each butterfly stroke. So…upside?
The Workout:
- 400 warm up
- 4 rounds, 2x50 fly kick, back kick, free, fly
- 2 rounds 150, 100, 75, 50, 25 fly & free every other stroke
- 4 rounds 5x25 fly, free, fly kick, free, back
