Breathe, Breathe, Breathe

This morning’s swim was a good one. My arms were strong, my legs were fast, my form was on point, and my rhythm was perfectly synced. I even took a breath with every stroke. On second thought, maybe it was all the oxygen that made things better? Here is a video of me swimming from last week taken by SCAQ Head Coach Clay Evans.

As you see, he picks up on the fact that I’m holding my breath for too long. He immediately called me out on it. He stressed the importance of breathing as frequently as possible so that I could get enough oxygen for muscles.

So, today, I did that. I took a breath every single stroke. And I think it made a difference. We’ll see what happens during Wednesday’s swim! Today’s workout:

  • 300 free warm-up

  • 2 rounds: 150 free, 50 kick, 2x100 free

  • 400 free, 50 kick

  • 300 free, 50 kick

  • 200 free, 50 kick

  • 100 free, 50 kick

  • 4x50 free

  • 100 free cool-down
