Swim Art: Charlotte Ager

Charlotte Ager is a freelance illustrator based in London. Her illustrations cover a wide range of subjects, from kitchen to city life, the universe, and of course swimming. I love the piece here and how it is comprised of so many little line strokes. The way swimmers are portrayed is also very realistic to me; watching someone swimming they are often quite smudgy and blurry underwater.

Like Hisashi Okawa, Charlotte has also had her work featured on the “It’s Nice That” website. I love this quote from one of the articles (see all links on her website):

“Lots of my work is very emotive,” the artist admits. “I want my work to function like a good book; like when you read something that affirms an idea or feeling you couldn’t articulate yourself. That’s what I admire in lots of people’s work: when you see something and you feel like saying yes, yes that’s it! That’s what I was thinking!”
