Saturday Afternoon Swim
February 18, 2017
Today was very chilly, and very rainy. So many pools have shut down over the last few weeks because the rain impedes the view of the lifeguards into the depths of a pool, so I was nervous SMSC would be close, but as the afternoon began, the rain started tapering off. I called and they were open, but the pool temperatures were lower than usual. SMSC has two pools – a large “fitness” pool that is generally lap swim lanes only, and a “splash” pool that is a combination of lap lanes and recreation areas. The splash pool is warmer because kids and older people are the primary users. I chose to use that pool, and was OK with the 78 degrees, especially when I heard the fitness pool was 74 degrees!
Anyway, I let this swim be straightforward. I wanted some time to think and not worry about intervals, so I chose to do a reverse ladder with some pull sets in between.
The Workout:
- 500 swim, 150 pull
- 400 swim, 150 pull
- 300 swim, 150 pull
- 200 swim, 150 pull
- 100 swim, 150 pull
