Long Set Sunday

Oh, hello again! I took a short break from journaling due to a busy travel and social life (something I haven’t had to say in nearly a decade!). Except for a weekend trip to the Pacific Northwest, this last week of September is relatively calm, and October is looking quiet as well. Perhaps activities and events are beginning to relax to coincide with the last quarter of 2019 and the start of autumn. The break is welcome knowing the holiday season is also just about to kick off.

Maybe that is what inspired me to do a few rounds of 500s. Nothing fancy, nothing requiring a lot of thought – just needed to get through 20 laps at a time. A random muggy heat wave came through SoCal so the afternoon was thick with odd overcast skies. The pool water was nice and cool, so I got through the laps quickly.

Speaking of quick, over the last few weeks I’ve realized I am getting through more distance in less time. I swam these 2300 meters in just about 40 minutes. Last Tuesday, I squeezed 3250 yards into one hour – that is the farthest I’ve swam since I jumped back into the pool in 2011!
